This scale remover is awesome. What I love is that it works on fish filets, too. I almost did not purchase this scaler because I was concerned it would be difficult to use on fish filets. For filets, I simply hold one end of the filet and easily scrape off scales. This is much quicker than trying to use a serrated edge knife. The scaler is easy to clean, and the finish looks great. This would make a great gift for someone who loves fishing and cleaning his / her own catch.

Not much to say, it does exactly what you need it to do and is really easy to clean. Also from my experience it prevents scales from flying all over the place which is also quiet nice.

My parents live in Florida, and I used to go fishing on the docks with them all the time. My parents are from Vietnam, and my dad is from a fishing village, so we eat a lot of fish. Throughout the years, she has been telling me her hands have been hurting, especially when she's scaling fish with the back of a cleaver. I bought her this, and she sent me a video telling me how she loves it, and her hands don't hurt as much as it does with a cleaver. She was surprised it actually worked so well, and now she doesn't completely dread scaling all the fish that gets caught.

I was able to remove all of the scales off of my fresh Atlantic salmon and I was able to eat the skin if I chose to do so. It works very very well.

Does exactly what it is designed to do with ease! I work in a major grocery store SF Dept. and this makes descaling a fish a snap.

It's a basic tool and gets the job done. The teeth are sharp so it makes quick work of scales. Just watch your fingers and don't scrape yourself in the process.
